T-SHIRT LAB
What can a T-shirt tell us about the way we consume fashion?
T-Shirt Lab is a participatory art project exploring fashion consumption through an everyday garment. Set within a festival environment, the project transformed the 30-metre-long west wing of a historic castle into an immersive space for learning, making and reflection.
Background knowledge and facts about fashion consumption were combined with a striking installation made from more than 300 donated, used T-shirts, making the scale of textile consumption tangible. Visitors were invited to take one T-shirt from the installation and transform it themselves through a creatively guided upcycling process, turning each garment into a unique, personal piece.
Together, the visitors transformed the installation piece by piece, turning awareness into hands-on experience and giving existing materials new possibilities.
